Ocean Air

My husband and I both grew up in Wilmington, NC. We lived there our entire lives until we left for Japan in 2004 when I was 27 and Mark was 31. We lived in Japan by the ocean until May 2006 and now we live in Raleigh, NC. I used to come to Raleigh to visit friends in college and joked that Raleigh always gave me a headache. Well, now we live here and the same is still true. I have decided that there is a HUGE difference in how my body reacts to living near the ocean and living inland. My sinuses HATE to be away from the humidity of the salt air and I literally have to take an Advil Cold and Sinus every morning to feel normal. Is that wierd? Apparantly, for health reasons alone, I need to always live in a coastal community. Sounds good to me!!! Works out good for my husband as well, since he is a professional surfer. I married smart! First Mistake

So, today I had a "party" at my house to try to sell some of my new merchandise. I made the first real business mistake, and tried to do this in the middle of the day at my home. Only a few people were able to make it, but a few is better than none. I am from Wilmington, NC which is alot smaller than Raleigh, so I have learned to invite specific people to each event, and NOT to try to have it midday on a Saturday, and not so close to Halloween because there are many festivals going on. Lesson Learned!

The Beginning

My name is Jennifer Hunt and this blog will be the continuing story of my new business venture. I have been married almost 7 years now and we have a 1 year old son named Josiah. My husband Mark and I have traveled several places around the world and lived in Japan for almost 2 years as missionaries. We are both originally from Wilmington, NC and now live in Raleigh. We returned home in 2006 to the USA to have our son and now we are both in school as well. Like everything else in the world, we like to say that Josiah was in fact "made in Japan"...hahaha.
After traveling the world, we fell in love with the wonderful and unique items you can find in the many different cultures and countries. This is what inspired the start of the UNIQUE WORLD TRENDS company. I am the sole owner and worker for the company and it is all internet based, offering retail and wholesale prices. I already service many boutiques and shops in the the Raleigh/Cary area and look forward to adding more in the future.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTS I SELL:
The majority oy my merchandise is imported from Thailand. We traveled to Thailand 2 years ago, and the shopping there is AMAZING! The designs are very cool, and almost all of them are handmade. The quality is superior and the Thai people are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I work one on one with a local there named Nan. She is my shopper/supplier of all of my Thai goods. The other countries I import from as of now are the Philippines and China. I work one on one with a local from each of the countries and enjoy my friendship with them as much I enjoy the business side. I love the products I sell, which is why I sell them. I never fail to be out in public with one of my Thai handbags and receive a compliment on how much someone likes it. I wanted to provide merchandise for people at reasonable prices, that you cannot find at just any local store. By providing the merchandise for us here in the USA, I am also able to help provide for families overseas that are not as fortunate as some of us. BONUS!!
Anyways, this is the start of my story...more to come.......
